Anyway. Diotima comes up with a very clever idea. She says love (or wisdom) is something in BETWEEN a godess and a human being. That is, a deity (daemon?) which serves as a go-between. (since the god or godess never communicates directly with humans.) This deity is partly divine, partly human. (she/he needs to be human to be able to communicate with humans. And divine to raise people to a higher level.)
I don´t know but I thought this made more sense than the usual Christian explanation. Even more sense than the Buddhist explanation!
