Opium for the people

Opium is the ancestor of all tranquilizers. Did you know? It started maybe 200 years ago. (in the West.) And to make it acceptable (?) the opium was dropped into alcohol.(wine.) And was sold in neat little bottles. Perfectly legally! (a lot of people became addicted. Among them Lincoln´s wife and Charles Dickens.)
