Great Britain conducted 2 opium wars with China. (1839-42 and 1856-60.) They tried to stop Chinese opium traders? On the contrary. They tried to stop China from stopping British illegal opium trade with them! (typical example of Victorian hypocrisy. Gladstone later said this was the stupidest war they had ever fought.)
